Books that caught my eye this week and ended up on my TBR Pile:

In honour of Valentine’s Day, and because I had time to kill so spent it wandering around Half-Price Books…

badboyswithredroses kathleendante_entangled clairecross_thirdtimelucky

Bad Boys with Red Roses – an anthology of 3 steamy novellas by Janelle Denison, Tina Donohue, and Sharon Cullars (all authors new to me).

Entangled – a paranormal romance by Kathleen Dante (The closest thing I’ll get to a scary story on Friday the 13th!)

Third Time Lucky – by Claire Cross
I read her All or Nothing last week, as it was one of the books I picked up in my haul at Chapters a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it so when I noticed this one, I had to bring it home too.

I actually went in there hoping to find some Steinbeck to read for the February Celebrate the Authors Challenge and the Steinbeck Mini Challenge, but they didn’t have any. And I couldn’t just leave empty-handed!

BTT – Reading Author Blogs

This week’s Booking Through Thursday question asks:

Do you read any author’s blogs? If so, are you looking for information on their next project? On the author personally? Something else?

I do read author blogs and have several of them in my feed reader. What I’m looking for differs for fiction and non-fiction authors. For individual fiction authors I’m usually looking at their blogs for info on upcoming releases. If it’s a new-to-me author that I’ve enjoyed reading, I’ll also be scoping out the backlist for more titles I might enjoy. I have a horrible habit of starting a series in the middle, so usually need to find out how many other titles there are and what the proper order for them is.

I also really enjoy the group blogs such as Romancing the Blog and Riding With the Top Down. It’s nice to see how authors interact with each other, and what makes them tick when they’re not writing.

When it comes to authors of non-fiction, then I’m looking more for evidence that the author is an expert in the subject that he/she is writing about. I also like to learn more about them as a person since mindset and opinion play such a role in determining a person’s perspective on a given topic.

What about you? What do you look for in an author’s blog? Leave your answers here or play along at Booking Through Thursday.
